Paint chip removal recommendation ?
Hi,
I have just noticed there is a paint chip (about 1cm) on my E90. What's the best DIY option to get that fixed ?. Has anyone used Chipex (http://www.chipex.co.uk/) ?. Looks easy enough to apply. Or am I better off getting a touch up paint from the main dealer ?. Colour is metallic blue. Thanks for any info/suggestion. |

Use your chipex all the time on mine and even on my previous cars. It easily outperforms a touch up pen/paint and in some cases you can get flawless results - depending on the depth of the chip. If the chip does'nt warrant a visit to a body shop then this is the next best thing. One thing with the kit though... I preferred to use my own polish as the one included was too abrasive. It also took me a lot of time and patience on some deeper chips by building up the layers. Don't forget to prep the chip either by removing any wax from the area to be painted. Generally it can last a year or more if looked after and done properly but kiss goodbye to it sooner if you use a pressure washer.
