2015 pricing? Worth delaying an order?
So I read on these forums that the 2015 model year 2 series will go into production in July 2014. With my order having just been placed in April, it almost makes sense to me to delay the order and get a 2015.
Dealer says he thinks the price will go up by 5% between the 2014 and 2015 models. That's another $2300ish (5% of the 46.5K I'd otherwise pay without delivery charge) ...just to get a 2015 instead of a 2014. Or is it 5% up on the base price? That would still be over $2K more on a 235i. So get a 2014 a month or two sooner for $2Kish less or the 2015 later for more...hmm. |

It really matters how long you are going to own the car. If it 3 years or less I would definitely go for the 2015. You will more than make up the two thousand dollars in resale value.

5% price hike? Sounds doubtful. Maybe when the car goes through a life cycle impulse. Unless they are adding more options as standard (which doesn't seem likely as the M235i comes with so much standard already), a price hike of that amount doesn't seem likely. What is likely is that your car sales person wants to sell a car now rather than let it sit for several months.
That's my guess, anyway. You're looking to do ED as well? I heard there will be no ED deliveries in the entire month of August, so you would have to time it to take delivery in early July. I would look into this, if you're entertaining the idea. |

It's pretty simple. If you're going to lease then do it now and take advantage of the incentives. If you're going to buy, then wait since the incentives won't be as much as the value you'd lose right away by having an older model year.

I decided that I'd rather have the car for the second half of June and August to tear around Europe in. That is worth a few grand to me. If I delay I might not have a 2015 model until late September which would mean the European winter is just around the corner.

If you are doing ED it gets a little more complicated as the M235i may stop coming out of dealer allocation, which means even more savings, but nothing is for certain. I will be doing ED in October and hoping for this.
Nevermind, you would be doing military sales... Last edited by hyperzulu; 05-07-2014 at 02:39 PM.. |

NFW on a 5% price increase, maybe 1-2% but BMW doesn't take 5% price increases unless raw materials are going through the roof which they aren't. I think maybe a $500-$600 increase. Too much competition to even consider that kind of a price increase.
