The BMW e90 plastics are really cheap? I mean chipping and cracks all over the place.

The plastic on the back of my center console has some places where the paint is chipping away. It's not too bad since it's in the backseat and I don't ever see it.
I don't think it should peel that quickly/easily. My previous car was a 2008 Saturn Astra and it was all plastic inside but it all looked like new when I traded it in with 98k miles. |

thats the thing is a BMW not a hyundai it should be at decent standards, but oh well it bothers me since I think my e46 had better interior from plastics to leather.

I found material quality in the E90 surpass the ones I had in the G37 by a margin. Each time I get into the beemer I am feel welcomed and very happy to be there, whereas in G37 I always thought that some parts were just just missing; too many cut corners.
Regarding the F30, I have somewhat mixed feelings as I agree that they really went too far with the plastics, but on the other hand, it's all nicely put together and very pleasant on the eye. |

I agree too. Have some chips and peeling too. Oh and the fine brushed alum trim in my e92 is awful as well. It chips way to easy when the seat belt even barely touches it. Costs $125 just to replace these door trim pieces! But hey nothing is ever perfect and I still love this dam car.

I definitely think my 11 e92 has a good quality interior. Only issue I have is that some buttons from the idrive are peeling.
Does anyone know if that would be something that could be replaced under warranty? comparing my interior to my brothers 370z and my sisters Mercedes. Nissan is just plain cheap imo, Mercedes is good quality but just looks classic compared to my 335is. But I agree with the f30/4series interior are lagging in quality. |

My 335is' interior is of decent quality. But I agree with the above, the F30s and my brother's 2012 X3 interiors are terrible. Some Kia models have better interiors! lol

You haven't sat in a cheap interior until you've had an E36 BMW. Parts literally fall off.

Driver side mirror switch, and driver side door pocket behind mirror switch. The rest of my car is A1 FRESH! Because nobody else sits in the rest of it as it's a DD and I'm anal about all of my cars' conditions. As for steering trim it's wrapped so no complaints.

I think the E9x has a very solid interior. Metal air vents, sturdy and high quality materials all around - especially the dash and upper door trim. The quality is consistent throughout too.
Sit in the F30 or F10 if you want to see cheap. The F30 is a significant downgrade from the E9x in terms of materials (lower grade, thinner plastics). In the F10 550i loaner I had last year, I noticed plastic air vents and crappy plastics on the upper parts of the door. BMW will not earn repeat business from me by cutting corners.

The e36 is not due to cheap parts its due to lack of good ownership. headliner sags due to car not being garaged or very hot climate parking outside which is common on this chassis. Door panels to begin with are a bad design on this car but again bubble due to heat. Seats dont even begin to talk about this I dont know how anyone can let these seats go to shit. Sorry I have so much love for these cars the E36 M3 is a better built car than the e90 hands down. It's funny how it can beat any 325i/328i e90 and you can have these M3s for 5k in good condition. Worst BMW interior would be E46. Its stuck on halfway modern. Like it doesn't know which generation to go to. |

The plastic around my shifter's base has some sort of plastic/rubber coating on it that's starting to wrinkle and peel up and looks not to good other than that interior looks great.
Oh and radio display seems to wash out and the display is almost impossible to read when it's hot outside. Something funny happens to the digits. Clear and bright in cooler weather though.

I DD my 335xi and i don't have any of the symptoms you guys have. Is it the way the car been treated or how do you get these paint chips/peeling? I wanna know so I can do preventive measures.

So true. I'd say the interior material quality from the G37 is on par with the F30.

Where they might fall short is in motor refinement. C'mon, Kia and Hyundai are the ONLY ones who completely ripped-off MB's new led tails, they look pretty cool. Much cooler than anything BMW has to date. |
