BMW A/C Blows (Literally)
So this past week we were getting up into the 90's here in phoenix and I noticed my a/c wasn't getting cold at all. Its only 90, I don't want to think about when we hit 110. So I took my car into the dealer and they performed a leak test. They found that the evaporator was leaking and had to take out the dash to replace it. (All while i was enjoying myself in a 2014 328d) Before i took it in it was 60 at the vents after repair it was 42. Just a warning for BMW owners in hot climates, this is a common issue from what ive heard. Thanks to BMW warranty this was all covered, without warranty it would have been $2k plus!

Lol cars are billed like doctors bill. When you have insurance, you are billed 3x or 5x. When you have no insurance you are billed 1.5 x or less. Nobody would pay 2k to have their evaporator replaced.....

Also you will know when you have a problem with the a/c, the thermometer read 59 degrees with it set to 60 and it never cooled down. Now the thermometer reads 42 with the a/c set to 60. And its a huge difference! |

So I topped it up and it stopped working. Went to a shop, he too took out all the freon, and said I had double . E90 needs 1.3 lbs. DN |

I'm in Phx and I thought the a/c was weak too. Back is also always wet. Might have to buy a thermometer tool to test it.

Wanna trade? We're at a balmy 53 degrees this morning. Just this past Monday we were around 82.
I've always found the AC in all my BMWs to be lackluster in any temps above 90 degrees. Never understood this in a car with a price point well over 50k new. |

I believe part of the problem are the leather seats. They are not vented, and they absorb heat. If you leave the car in the sun, those seats will be steaming. And because they are not vented, they wont be cooled off. Especially since you are now sitting in them keeping the heat in.
Its kinda sad that my gf's 2002 elantra A/C works better. One time I accidentally turned on the seat warmer (mine is in the side of the seat). The AC was having issues keeping up with the hot climate. Having that seat warm up like its 0F outside made it worse. |

Lol! BMW hasn't been able to fix my A/C for two yrs. The way the weather is I may have to wait until August for 90 degree weather
