Traction control, handbrake and ABS lights wont go off...
Sorry for the long post...typical this happens on a long bank holiday weekend!
I have a 2010 e93 320d Msport convertible, car is current 4 years and 4 days old since first registration, on original battery, had a brand new set of 19" 313s fitted in Feb. Car drives fine, sometimes I get a yellow "car on ramp" symbol when I unlock it but it goes off by the time I sit in the drivers seat. I changed the service date on the display last week when it passed its MOT from 04/2014 to 04/2015 (these might be important changes...keep reading!) Yesterday i put the roof down and made 5-6 short trips round town, car was then parked with the roof down and locked for 5 hours on my driveway. I started the car up to go into town, and noticed the yellow ABS light, red handbrake light and yellow TC light were on and a red "car on ramp" symbol was on the dash before I even put the keys in the ignition. I thought I best put the car in my garage to see whats up, so i put the roof up, the boot lid opened, and thats as much as it would do. It wouldn't go up or down, tried several times, so i parked it up and left it for an hour. I noticed the time was --/-- on the display and the service information was blank too which seemed odd. Tried again an hour later using my keyfob this time and roof opened fully again (boot lid shut). I then opened the boot by hand and had a look at the sensors inside - everything looked ok. I tried to close the roof off the key fob and it closed first time, it did squeak a bit and maybe needs some oil on the joints as I have not done this as yet this year. Started car again and the lights were still on the dashboard. I did however have my clock and service information back. The car is fitted with a smarttop controller which is how i for the roof closed off the key, i disabled this from the hidden menu to make sure it was not causing the issues but it seems to have not made any difference. Out of coincidence i read the fault codes in the memory with INPA 2 weeks ago but did not clear these, the fault codes in memory here (before any problems) were: DME/DDE 4737 21 (Power management closed-circuit current violation) KOMBI E107 24 I then read the codes last night after my problems and these were stored: DME/DDE 4737 21 4C18 21 4993 21 497F 21 4AB8 21 4BF8 21 49A3 21 4C82 21 DCS D358 24 D359 24 DWA D947 20 KOMBI A3B6 20 E107 64 KLIMA E715 24 E728 24 E716 24 E719 24 E727 24 I tried to clear them but it shows an error on 2 but seemed to clear them anyway: 29 DSC ERROR_ECU_REQUEST_CORRECTLY_RECEIVED__REAPONSE_PEN DING 56 FZD ERROR_ECU_REQUEST_CORRECTLY_RECEIVED__REAPONSE_PEN DING And now the only error stored is one of the original ones: KOMBI E107 64 I cant seem to check the battery condition/volts as the hidden menu fails to load as it has the car on ramps symbol on. I have used my tester and it reads about 12.5v with engine off. Tyre pressures are ok Wheels are aligned (but steering wheel has always been a couple of degrees off centre) Engine bay looks ok DCS works ok Stop/start works ok Basically to drive it seems fine which is annoying! Car dives fine, But not tested roof since the initial problem just in case it wont go back up! Ps - im 99% sure the boot didnt open off the button once or twice and when you put all 4 windows up the drivers one fell back down half way - unsure if these are related? Any ideas would be appreciated... Regards Martyn |

Did you get the battery cable recall done? Im not sure if your car qualifys, but you could have battery issues. Another thing to look into is your steering angle sensor. those things make the system freak out.

I had this happen...
it is the "DSC module" (think that's what its called)... when BMW replaced this for me, when they order the parts, there is even a "repair kit" for this part, making me believe it has to be somewhat common. I had mine replaced under warranty, but think its about a $1200 part. My ABS, brake, tire, all dash lights came on one day driving home. Pulled over, turned car off, then back on and went away. 2-3 days later the same thing happened, only this time the dash lights stayed on so I took it to the dealer. Car drove and stopped just fine when the lights were on, and there were no noticeable effects. My money is on that you have this same problem. Good luck!

DSC Codes
Always start with the easy stuff. A weak battery with throw codes. Lots of codes. Have you ever replaced your battery?
Worn rear wheel bearings will also cause the Wheel Speed Sensor to fail (as it gets covered in grease). I would check these first. -Tom |

Cheers all
Never replaced the battery (yet) None of the other codes have came back as yet - can I translate what they mean anywhere on the internet? Cheers |

Update 01/05/2014
I have only been driving the car 2-5 miles a couple of times with the warning lights on Drive 40 miles yesterday as i needed the car for work, started it up again today and the warnings are all gone! Ill read and clear the faults again tonight and keep an eye on it Could be a faulty battery still and the 40 miles charged it enough to clear the incorrect errors? A dirty sensor somewhere thats now clean? A reset of something else somehow? |

My dad had this same problem, turned out to be a wheel speed sensor that threw most of the codes. Problem came back after a couple hours though. My guy tighted down the battery connecters and problem has been gone since then. So deff check if your car has that battery connector recall or check for lose connection that is causing the car to throw all the codes . |

The battery recall did not apply to UK cars. It's also not a "tightening down" issue, but a cut-and-replace of the section that attaches to the fuse panel behind the glove compartment. Still would be a good idea to make sure your battery post connectors are all tidy and snuggled up.
Others are correct - first steps: test/replace the battery and check the wheel speed sensor.

This pertains only to the symbols being displayed: The 'car on the lift' means that it's due for service. Check your brake fluid level and make sure that the float is working properly. Could also be rotors and pads. Brake sensors could be worn and need replacing (1 front drivers side and 1 rear passenger side). Are you getting a display showing the front or back end of a car with a brake symbol? And... if the environment is damp, the drums for the hand brake tend to corrode over time and foul the shoes which may be triggering the hand brake light. If the problem is worn sensor(s), only new ones can clear the front/rear car symbols.

Car has 8000 miles to next service and brakes were all replaced (and sensors) last year
The car on ramp symbol means take it to a garage asap in this example |

I've had a similar issue the past year where lights would intermittently light up my dash like a Christmas tree but goes away after 10 seconds. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ight=Christmas
I replaced the battery and had my speed sensors checked...everything is working fine. I'm stl having trouble pinpointing the problem and the car drives perfectly fine despite this issue |

had similar issue with my e90. My money is on a wheel speed sensor, should be a code indicating which one is causing the problem. $50 and 15min of time, easy fix. Could be the steering wheel sensor plate if thats not it.
