ED Customers. Delta cheap fares out of LAX currently

You can get business class fares LAX-MUC in the low $2k range in the late June to July timeframe. I just purchased round trip LAX-Vienna for $2,030 in business class. I'm planning to take the train from Vienna to Munich. I couldn't turn down upper deck of both A380 and 747 in one trip, as I'm a huge commercial aviation geek.

I do have to purchase airfare to get from Tallahassee to LAX, but I'm still looking at around $2500 total. I'd have to pay $2k or more for economy class tickets out of Tallahassee, so I'm happy.

Not aware of delta owning any 380s. Is it a Air France code share?

Yeah, AF code share on the way out, (edit)KLM code share 747 on the way back. It isn't the most convenient itinerary, and due to work constraints, I can only stay for a week, but getting to ride upper deck on both planes and not having to pay what I could be charged is worth it for me. I didn't splurge for first class, didn't even look to see how much that would have been for the A380 leg.

For those with less of a desire to get on to the really big jets, there are even better deals to be had. Just check this screengrab for Business Class:

This is apparently Skyteam doing a good ol' fare war with Star Alliance.

You guys are AWESOME! That's what I need to hear to get out there...love it! Thanks for taking the time to post. Now the question is, do I go to LA first, or try to go out of ATL...any expert advice?

The low Biz Class fares are only out of LAX,SFO,DEN,LGA, and a few others. Here's some more info: http://thepointsguy.com/2014/04/good...-skyteam-2000/

You're not going to be able to get the low fares out of ATL. My itenirary outbound is LAX-CDG-VIE. Inbound is VIE-AMS-JFK-LAX. The ticket to get me to/from LAX is going to cost me about $500.

I took a look and I see that the flights should be 7-10 days...I was booking for 14. Good info though.

Why did you choose to fly to VIE? Are you taking the train in? Also, realize that you need to drop your car off in Munich if you are doing a Saturday drop off. The other weekends don't apply to the other drop off locations.

Yeah, I plan on taking the train to/from Vienna. Honestly, I chose Vienna because it was the only itinerary that allowed me to get the A380 and the 747. I've never flown on either and I'm huge aviation geek, so I decided to make sacrifices around that.

This is my first ED, as well as first trip to Europe. I'm sure I'll make plenty of mistakes in my planning, but I'll learn from them and do better next time!

I'm with the first group doing the ED with delivery on June 23rd and I will still be in Europe when you get your car delivered. If there is anything I can do to help, just let me know. Pm me for my cell and that way you can touch base before you leave.
