Headlights Working Properly?
Bought my E90 4 months ago. So, I'm still learning about how the car is supposed to operate and am not sure if my lights are operating properly. Did a search for some info but didn't find the info I needed.
So, here's what I'm confused about. The angel eye rings in the 2 center headlamps will turn on BUT the center light bulbs in those headlamps have NEVER turned on, regardless of which headlight setting is used. The center light bulbs in the 2 outer headlamps are the only ones that ever turn on, either in low or high beam. However, I just saw a E9X on the road will all 4 headlights on. So, are my headlights operating properly? If not, is the fix just a matter of changing the light bulbs in the center headlamps or is there more to it than that? Please advise. Thanks!

if you push the high beam out so it stays on, that activates your bi-xenon high beam, so only the outside lights up
however, if you PULL the stalk towards you ("flash" the high beam), this will light up the inside pair of lights |

On a lci it uses the bixenon when you flash the high beam. The inside lights are the cornering lights if they are adaptive. If they are nonadaptive the inside lights do nothing. |

Yeah, my lights will do that BUT what confused me was that I just saw another E9X with all 4 headlamps on ALL THE TIME -- not just flashing the high beam. Do any E9x's do that (or were the other guy's lights messed up)?

he probably just had them coded to run at low voltage as DRLs (daytime running lamps, required in some countries)

So, I gather from your answer that the center lights aren't supposed to "do" anything and that the my lights are operating the way they are supposed to for a pre-LCI vehicle. Thanks for the clarification.
