valvetronic motor gasket...

2007 328i E92
when i removed the three E8 fasteners for the valvetronic motor, it popped right out and the gasket was not held on by anything (i believe there are supposed to be two T30 torx fasteners).
will there be a problem if i put it back together the way it was?
was this the source of my oil leak?
any advice would be appreciated.

when i did mine i only remember three torx. One on each side and one underneath.

How many holes are in the gasket that you have?

mine looked like this.... (not my pics, thanks to whoever)

and the gasket looks like this, it has a correct up and down direction if i remember right.

Same on my car.

But mine has been changed and I still have a little leak.

My garage told me that I would be obligated to changed all the valve cover if I really want to solve the problem. They also told me that if I try to removed the valvetronic and trying to fix it by misself the car wont start without reseting the computer.

Possible?

I appologized about my bad english

i've was told by my bmw mechanic to replace all bolts every time you remove them.

after removing the valvetronic motor, i've heard two ways will work:
resetting the key (not the engine) on and off a couple of times (this worked for me)
or, using a computer to reset the limit points.

as far as the valve cover goes, i would recommend replacing it when you replace all the gaskets because of how much of a pain it is to get in and out - just replace it and keep on driving. That said, this is my first bmw and it is a whole new class to work on. I did most things on my volkswagon but I may leave this car to the pros until I can learn a little more about them.
