How much money does it cost to be an early adopter of the F80?
For example: Here we are, about three months before the first F80/F82 cars get delivered, and forum members are now happily reporting that the best deal you can get is $2500 off MSRP (from a very select few dealers).
What kind of deal can we get if we wait 2-3 months? 5-6 months? How much is it worth to be exclusive, if just for a while? I ask because I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on the $2500 off MSRP. However I may just wait if waiting a few months will be a significant difference in price. |

Run the numbers... With $2500 off, buying the M4 made more sense then keeping my M3. I'll have tears in my eyes when my M3 is sold... but then I'll open the windows on my M4 and dry them away.

My dealer says he has orders for all his allocations this year and some of the next year. He predicts that he'll have full books for the next year shortly after his showroom cars arrive.
Of course, that's sales talk. But from friends working at BMW headquarters I hear similar things... these ///Ms are selling crazily fast. To reply on your post for figures: no one can predict how they will look in half a year or in a year. But I would not wait on them to improve in case you want one. If you like one of the ///Ms get it, now

Who really knows? It depends completely on how much supply catches up with demand. Nobody knows except BMW. If I had to guess... it will be a year or more before you can get deals near invoice. If it makes sense for you to buy it now... then go for it.

I'm figuring keep my first F80 for about two years, then sell it and get another one with a Euro Invoice + $1k deal and have a slightly newer car and a much lower payment to boot. Just think about the bumped residuals on the M5. We may never see those, but my dealer quoted me just short of $1300/month for a 36/12 lease on a nearly loaded $118k M5. People not doing fully loaded were getting MUCH lower.
At this point with the F80/F82 (and the F83 coming soon), it is a case (relatively) high demand, and extremely constricted supply. Thus, dealers have no incentive to offer discounts. Those of us who are getting discounts can generally pin it on an existing relationship with our dealer. My guess is that there will be certain pockets of the country where you'll be able to get some nice deals towards the end of 2014 as dealers with a few allocations try to sell locally rather than do deals with other dealers. Aside from that, give it 12 months and there will be plenty of dealers willing to do invoice+ deals, as the biggest wave of idiots willing to pay at or near MSRP (I'm included in this group) have been given their fix. If you can wait, you can save a decent amount of money. If you're like me, and have a lease coming due and need your next fix of sweet, sweet Bimmer... then it is what it is. |

I'd say at least a year and a half until you get invoice deals. Plus BMW might throw some sweet incentives like loyalty($500) or ultimate drive event ($1000) during that time period. 2500$ off MSRP is a great deal tho, about $2000 away from invoice.
