VTT N55 updates, New product announcments

Hello N55 owners! Just wanted to start a new thread to update you guys on what we have been working on for the N55 front the past few months. To start off we now have 11 of our Dual Ball Bearing GTX3076 N55 upgrades shipped around the world including 1 in China, 1 in Brazil, 2 in Western Australia, 1 in Dubai, 1 in Argentina, 2 in California, 1 in Vegas, 1 in Florida, and 1 in PA. N55 turbo fever has spread around the world..

Next we would like to announce a couple exciting new options for people who like the idea of an upgraded N55 turbo, but may not have an extra $4K laying around for a top of the line Ball Bearing solution.

Our first option will be a Stage 1 style N55 upgrade consisting of an upgraded billet compressor wheel, and a clipped turbine. This turbo upgrade will sell for $899 with the stock DV, and $1249 with our custom billet DV and corresponding install kit. We personally think the stage 1 option for the N55 is the worst bang for your buck in terms of the amount of power potential you are getting for your money, but if you want 20-45 extra WHP near the top of the rev band this upgrade will provide that for you at a very affordable price.

Or next option and one we think will interest a lot of people will be our Stage 2 journal bearing upgrade. Same awesome wheel combination that has proven to work amazingly well in testing, the GTX3076, but in journal bearing configuration using the existing Borg Warner center section. This turbo upgrade will sell for $2499 with stock DV and $2799 with our custom billet DV and corresponding install kit. This upgrade will provide the same performance as our DBB stage 2, but will give up the robust longevity of the DBB CHRA, and lose a little in terms of spool, and transient response, as a JB offering simply cannot touch a DBB CHRA in those areas.

We are also offering our Custom Billet DV upgrade kit for your existing N55 stock turbo to get rid of the stock plastic DV's that are prone to a cracking diaphragm which cause sticking, and leaking. This will include our billet DV, plug and play wiring harness, 3 port solenoid, and vacuum tubing needed to complete the install. This DV upgrade will sell for $349

Many different platform use the identical style DV as the N55 and forge has shown they are very prone to above mentioned cracking, and leaking.

Here is a link to their Mini Cooper kit showing a cracked diaphragm.

As far as shipping times. We are about 60-90 days from being able to ship limited quantities of Stage 1, and 90-150 days from shipping our Stage 2 JB upgrades. We will also have roughly 7 Stage 2 DBB upgrades back in stock in 60-90 days as well. We will be opening up a waiting list for people who want to get in on the limited quantities of the upgrades. First come first serve to hold a spot.

Thank you in advance for any inquiries, please direct any and all questions to Sales@vargasturbo.com and we will explain all details do not send PM's here. A small non-refundable deposit will apply strictly to keep people from holding a spot and decided they do want the upgrade down the line.

Thanks! VTT Team

Now we are talking, that Stage 2 JB is very interesting and the price is where I would expect it to be. Us auto guys don't care about transient response and I bet spool on this small of a turbo is nearly identical. Does this price include a center section rebuild or does it just use the center section as-is?

CHRA is built with all brand new parts. Fully rebuilt and ready to rock. We just use the existing bearing housing as a starting place instead of going with a Garrett DBB bearing housing to start with.

From the other forum, he expects roughly the same gains as the more expensive option.

With the exception of the DBB, there is no dyno numbers as these upgrades are NEW and it will take several weeks before the first batches are shipped. You can't expect dynos on something that has not been tested yet. The estimated whp are stated on Tony's original post. However, it would be nice to get some feedback from people who already got the DBB upgrade in terms of pro-tuning, fuel, etc
Kudos to Tony and Terry for showing real data on this including dynos and 1/4 mile times. Looking forward to get the Journal Bearing option once it's tested.

Terry Burger made 477whp on the first stage 2 DBB out. There have not been any more dyno numbers since then, but it sounds like there should be some more soon.

This is one of the most well reasoned responses I've seen in a while.

The time frames given were estimates, but for the DBB I can tell you, we will have 7 more in stock in the next 30 days, for stage 1's we should have a few in stock in the next 45 days, for the stage 2 JB, its going to be a little longer as we have the wheels produced.

Stage 1's wont be too long, the wheels are almost done, then we just have to machine. They are much much easier than a stage 2 upgrade.
