ED Delivery:from out of state dealer

When ordering for European Delivery, can you have the car delivered to a dealer other than the one you ordered from?

And if so is there typically a fee associated with this?

thanks,

But when doing that can you have the car delivered, after your ED trip, to another dealer local to you?

There is a variety of delivery options when you are buying from a dealer out of state.

You can
1. pick it up at the dealership (free)
2. you can pick it up at performance center in south Carolina (free)
3. you can do a courtesy delivery to a dealer near you (added cost)
4. you can have the car shipped from the dealer to you (added cost)

Some options would not make sense for various states but in a nutshell thats all the delivery options

you can also scan David's website for some great FAQ on various ED question http://www.bimmerdavid.com/#!delivery-options

I would do 4. Thats what I'm doing. I don't want them to wash, clean or put any crap products on the car and use dirty rags to dry it(seen this far to many times).
Dealer installed swirl marks are not cool in my book. Take the shipping blocks out take the plastic off and hand over the car.

also to answer the tax and license question, you pay the rate based on where you register the car.

How much typically is the "Added cost" for 3 and 4? Is one always cheaper than the other?

Courtesy delivery can range anywhere from 0$-500$ from what I have seen but usually from what we have seen $250 seems to be the norm

sorry to keep referring to David's site but it answers almost everything you need to know. Here is the link regarding the performance center

Once the contract is signed and all the paperwork and numbers are done you can have the car delivered anywhere in US the end user would like

Shipping can vary a lot depending on state, time frame, date of the year, etc.. but on average I would say 600-1600 if I had to guess. Could be less could be more I don't know off the top of my head. David handles all that stuff.

No problem. I checked his site (but maybe not the correct page?) and saw some information but not everything i was looking for. The site specifically mentioned that the vehicle overview would not be included for cars ordered through ED at the performance center, but it did not list what other events / benefits you would recieve (based on what i saw)

Im considering ordering ED and then picking up at the performance center for a drive back to Los Angeles

Thanks for the help though

Do you know who determines what this fee will be? the dealership where the vehicle is being delivered or the dealership where the car was sold?

Thanks,

^^courtesy delivery would be based off a agreement of the two dealerships. The delivery dealership would set the price

Be careful with courtesy delivery: the "sending" dealer has to do the paperwork at the right time ... if he/she doesn't you're stuck.

My car got stuck in Maryland (**coughDavidcough**), because that dealer "forgot" to send back the proper docs - even though my local dealer faxed him about 50 times. That meant I had to do a custom deliver at $1500+

You're really at the mercy of the sending dealer forgetting or not being around to load the car. Make sure you know and TRUST the dealer.

My advice is to pay more for good service from a local dealer.

Thats lame... i would be pissed. I feel that in your case the dealer who forgot to send the papers should have been responsible for your shipping costs.

This makes it a little more difficult now...

That dealer was David Aviles and he also hosed my lease contract at LEAST 10 times - simple stuff too! typos. he'd go to all of the trouble to overnight a contract and I'd spot the typos within 10 seconds of opening the doc. The contracts also showed up with all kinds of buried fees even though we agreed up front to $500 over invoice.

My strong advice: do not buy a car over the phone. at least with a local dealer, once the car shows up on his lot it's yours to pick up.

My experiences lead me to a different conclusion and the opposite recommendation.
Did it twice with two different BMW dealers, no problems. Would not hesitate to do it again.
