Item Interest
A modified BMW Headlight Switch for Pre-LCI E9x with Xeon, Rain Sensor and Fog Lights. It has been modified to activate the rear fog lights on US models as is standard on European BMW E9x.

ie This switch functions identical to BMW Headlight Switch part # 61 31 6 932 796 (6 932 796) except for the fog light image on the button.

I bought and modified this one as a trial before updating my existing switch. Unit works in my E91 and has so for over a month. Updated my original switch and now selling this one.

No warranty is implied or conveyed. Validate this switch will work with your car before purchasing. No Returns.

Where in VA are you? I live in MD, but work in Tyson Corner. I'm assuming this will work in my '08 335?

I live in the southern end of the Shenandoah Valley.

Roughly 3.5 hours from Tysons Corner.

To check compatibility, I would go to realoem.com and put in your VIN and check what is stock.

If what has been told to me is correct, the headlight type, rain sensor and fog lights cause the differences in the switches.

Does this have the adaptive feature? Adaptive, Xenon, Fogs, Automatic Headlights, Rain Sensor? If so what did you use to modify it? I may be interested if this is compatible. I don't want to lose any features

Yes, it has the adaptive xenons, rain sensor, fog light capabilities. I had it in my E91 for a month as a test of the plunger I made.

Basically, I went industrial on the plunger. I've seen some DIY's on here using Lego, pens, and other stuff.

I purchased styrene plastic pieces; flat stock, square tube and round tube. I measured inside the switch, using the existing normal plunger as a guide, from the inside face of the button to where it would meet the 2 rubber push buttons on the circuit board. I measured then cut the square tube, a piece of flat stock and then cut 4 "feet" and glue welded it all together. I then checked the measurement and square of it and sanded as needed. I then added a guide strip to keep the plunger squarely inside the button.

I've included a picture of the plunger I manufactured. The Auction is over but let me know and I will relist.
