Wow... The Dakota leather in my X looks like it's new after 31k miles.

I guess it's due to the more delicate Merino leather....

On my second M5 and haven't had that happen on either.

The reason leather cracks is if you don't moisturize it frequently enough. You need to moisturize monthly in winter. If you don't it dries and then cracks. Cracks are caused by dryness.

At this point, you can still moisturize it to prevent it getting worse. I have heard that Swissvax elephant leather wax can help cracked leather but I have never had reason to try this myself.

So what most likely happened here is you sat sideways once while talking to somebody ( butt in seat but legs out side of the car. Of the leather stays depressed on the side for more then a few seconds these small cracks start to doran and get more pronounced over time. If you catch them early you can prevent most of it. In this severe car I would push hard ( politely) to have the dealer replace them under warranty. Let us know how it turns out.

Be glad you didn't have this P car. They are asking 129k for this car and otherwise it's a great car but how does this happen? Notice how the drivers side is just terrible. I included the passenger seat for a contrast.

Oh yes, it's a 2012 911 Turbo S with 20k miles.
