Anybody thinking about getting an i8??

I just ran across this the other day and I thought I'd share. Seems the i8 may the transvestite car I've always wanted. It's the Crying Games I tell ya! Or it's at least the hot girl I've always wanted to date but always fakes her orgasms. LOL! But yeah, way more fake noises coming from this thing than I even thought. I still want one though, I must be crazy.

I found out a couple of weeks ago that my dealer is only getting 1 allocated to them for all of 2014. It is already sold to an individual that put down $25K. Might be a while before we see any of these on the road.

Yeah they are gonna sell like hot cakes. My next car is either a Lambo Gallardo or an i8. Probably in 4 or 5 years.

Just thinking, if it is possible to order an i8 and have/get it for European Delivery, how would one travel in it in Europe -- I guess, one has to do a lot of stops?

Funny you say this. I am thinking maybe the Huracan.

It has got me intrigued. I like the idea of having a back seat in a pinch - I know it's tiny, but it's something. I also find it to be quite beautiful and certainly unique. I love the torque fill idea of the electric motor eliminating the turbo lag and power dips - like a poor man's P1. I also like the fact that they get a lot out of a little turbo 3, and it's quite light for a hybrid. I can't wait to see some real test numbers on it, especially rolling acceleration where it's supposed to shine. I don't think it will be as fast as an M5 but it blows it away in the looks department. In fact, it would probably get too much attention. My local BMW dealer is supposed to call me when they get one but I doubt that it will be available for long, if at all.

It's not an electric car. It's a plug in hybrid. You can drive on petrol. The petrol engine directly powers the wheels. It's not just a generator.

I am very intrigued by the i8. Depending on how things go, if i fail to get a good deal from the dealer to swap my M5 for the new M3, the i8 might be a very good choice as my everyday supercar. Not keen to use the M5 or Speciale for DD. I am particularly keen to do the all electric thing for city commuting esp when my office is less than 3km from home.

Nope weird looking experimental car from TRON. I smell a ton of electrical problems with this car in the first run.

I don't think the i8 is very impressive. Doesn't have a lot of power. If it was a full electric car, or a high performance hybrid combining an M3 6 cylinder with KERS then I would be excited. However the 3 cylinder with tiny electric motors just doesn't excite me.

As it is, a less expensive Tesla Model S will crush the i8 in a drag race.

Concur... I still finding my head swiveling as I pass a Tesla by; I rather enjoy the looks.

I'm having some real estate issues I need to sort out first. Hopefully summer. Hopefully we'll know if the 991 will get a power increase for 2015 by then.

Good luck with the real estate. Not sure they will increase not to close the gap with the GT3. Now the GTS may be the answer, but it's only 35 HP's which can be had with the power kit which I find not a bargain. The M5 is my answer to craving more power and torque. Had the 991S out this morning for a spirited drive, and had a ball because the power is the right mix for handling and control. GT3 will be in the garage possibly next year once they sort put the engine mess. A 9k rev is just crazy awesome.

Yeah if they put the S55 engine in the i8 and combined it with hybrid electric assist like the P1, they 'd have a real mid level super car on their hands, but paying like $200,000 for a BMW might be a stretch.

Would get as good mpg though.
