Valentine 1 question

I just got the V1 as a gift from my girlfriend. I have the Escort Max which I can mute and with 3 hits of the mute button I can mute that spot forever.

I took the V1 on a drive yesterday and it pretty much went off all day long around businesses. My question is how can I turn these falsies off? What am I missing?

This is my first V1. I've been On the Escort side forever.

You can't turn the falses off with the V1. The best you can do is buy the V1 Savvy OBDII power adapter which will block any falses below a preset mph which you can determine with a thumbwheel. This is pretty pathetic if you ask me because it's not blocking falses, its basically saying it will only operate above a speed limit you set.

Also note that if you run v1 with Passport, both will have diminished sensitivity since they cause background noise which diminishes the sensitivity of the other detector.

Not cool. It's driving me crazy. I even used the Max cord on the V1 in order to try and mute the V1. That's a no go. Same wire connection but only power no mute.

I'm not running them together.

Max in the BM.
V1 in the ZL1.

You can adjust the sensitivity to the various bands with the V1. Go to website and it explains how to program it. I have X and K turned off completely because very few agencies use these in Colorado. Only sensing for Ka and Laser. No problems so far.

That is a viable option, but K band is used a lot in rural Texas by local police depts.

What Stealth wrote.

Mike Valentine says he doesn't "believe" in GPS when implemented as a solution for false alerts in a radar detector.

The Max uses GPS and "knows" its location.

Shut down the Traffic Monitoring Filter and you're golden. http://www.valentine1.com/Lab/TechReport3.asp

Also with the iPhone app and the Bluetooth module you can limit the specific freq for the v1 to alarm for. I have both the bel stir+ and v1 ( in diff cars). I Like
the bel because it so quiet but I do miss the arrows. They really add value.

I am sure you have discovered the mute slider that allows you to adjust the misted volume. I keep mine at zero.

I have the Bluetooth module as well.
Just went out with the Max to see what's giving all of the falsies and it's all K and X. A real threat was KA. I'm driving to College station tomorrow and gather more data, then I'll adjust settings.

The V1 did save me yesterday though. It didn't play at all.

Most real
Threats are KA but we still have Real k band in use in out area. You will be safe turning off x but k you will need to limit the band to make sure you get the best detection. I have not don't this yes because I barely drive the car with the v1 now but I need too.

I am a huge V1 fan owning two of them since they were released and updating them over the years, but it's time the damn thing was brought up to the times re:GPS tracking, etc. It is a useful item to decrease the number of false alerts around town and if these types of features were added to the already superiority of the V1 it would once again 'own' all other detectors IMHO.

that was the primary reason I went with the Bell StiR this time around. Basically, the V1 is useless in a lot of places (like I-95) because of so many false alerts.

Depends on your location.. the one band that may be removed is x. Go to the RDF forum, find your state on the chart to see if x is used by the police there.

With the F10 M5 you need to disable the traffic monitor mode via the V1 settings menu. I believe it's letter "t". But check on that.

I used the V1 for many many years. Just started to use the STiR+ last six months. It's been giving a lot of what seems to be false signals only when on I-95. I am going to update it to see if that solved the issue.

What is the RDF Forum?
Google RDF Forums
radar detector forums

It's the single best place on the internet for all things radar/laser related.

Thanks. Tried Googling RDF and got "Richard Dawkins Foundation" and other noise. Radar Detector forums worked.

Assume you've already put in in 'logic' mode? Push and hold power button until you see the capital L. May help some.
