A few 'happy snaps' I took at work!

A couple of pictures I took at work! They were taken last year from the periscope of 'my' submarine. The aircraft carrier is the 100,000 tons USS George Washington, one very juicy target! Probably a shame we are on the same side

I can tell you it looks f*****g huge at 1500yds (3/4 mile).

The last picture is a frigate doing about 26 knots (30mph or so) doing its best to scare me....... it failed

BB, pic was taken during an exercise where I made my presence known to the frigate, otherwise 'he' wouldn't have a clue where to look!

Pete, this may be a stupid question but do you log into the forum from the sub? Just wandering if you have internet/e-mail access from work?

Gibbo, short answer is no. I am not currently 'seagoing' and am based ashore at the moment. However, most of the boats now have email access but very limited internet facilities because of the very limited bandwidth available and there are, of course, infrequent opportunities to log on to the internet once at sea.

Good question Squeeze! Majority are of course black. There is one which has been painted a dark shade of blue as a trial. Not quite Le Mans

I love that TV Advert for IT bods in the RN. The one where the young lad says ".. but sometimes I just switch it off and on again ... " flicks the switch and then the camera cuts to the submarine steaming ahead. Brilliant
