Cleared SES Light, Now Light Never Turns On!!!

After cleaning out the VANOS sensors, I cleared the codes and turned off the service engine soon light on my 06 e90 with a universal OBDII scanner. I now notice when I put the key in and start the car, the SES light does not temporally come on and then go off. Is this normal? Shouldn't it come on for a second or two and then go off to show it is functioning?

Has anyone else experienced this issue and have a suggestion what to do? I want to know when there is a future issue with the car.

It is working now. Not sure if I just couldn't see it before or what. But it quickly comes on when the car is started now.
