E46 lap of the TT Course

My old E46 doing a lap of the TT course. Accelerated to 6x to get it short enough to post to youtube.

So it took you just over 50 minutes to do a lap. Kinda puts it into perspective that the racers do it in ~18 minutes! LOL!

I've been a busy monkey - I have work coming out of my a*sehole, so I am flat out - so much so that I don't really have the time to be on here now, but I thought I'd have a quick look around.

It took the best part of an hour. But I was sticking to the speed limits in deference to the camera being able to view the speedo at times. That, and the fog over the mountain was so thick in places. In some ways it sums up the Isle of Man; sun, rain and fog in less than an hour.

Tony Pond just managed to do a lap in a rover 800 years ago that broke the 100mph average. It took him about three years to do it, and he had to ditch the co-driver that he had at first (for pace notes) because the extra weight was a problem. I'd love to see how quick something with an M badge could lap.

That brings back lots of happy memories, clever how you've done it though.

I always think of the I.O.M. as a condensed version of the UK, weather wise. You can go from Peel, sunshine, get to Ramsey, bit murky, hit the mountain roads, thick fog! via Kate's Cottage & down to Brandish Corner (nearly came off there once), eventually to Douglas & sunshine again. Brilliant.

Thanks BB. So very true about the weather as well.

I would not want to have a moment at the old Brandish. But with the changes that they have made this year it is properly quick and so much safer than before. It took me all of the two weeks over their to start getting my head re-calibrated to the fact that you can go properly quickly through there without the risk of bouncing off the banks on either side!

Talking of bouncing off things. You'll know where Ballaugh Bridge is. One year I was there, they had a copper standing in the middle of the bridge attempting to slow everyone down coming from either direction. The idea was that he stopped the bikes one way for a short time to allow the opposing traffic of bikes to come over the bridge. Bad move Mr Plod. Needless to say, the bikers decided they were not going to be slowed down and proceeded to continue at will. I happened to be watching all this whilst having a drink & talking to some Americans. In the end the copper removed his familiar white helmet, threw it into the air & walked off. Classic. The roar from the surrounding crowds would have been heard some distance away.

It was the following day that a German biker decided to take flying lessons over a banked area near Waterworks. He landed on some womans' patio area some distance below. Somehow thankfully, he survived to tell the tale.
