Key Fob Battery
In my E90, putting the key fob in the slot supposedly charged the battery. I would switch out the fobs monthly (I'm the only driver). Leasing three E90s, never had a fob battery die. Now with no in car "charger", should I alternate the fobs, and how long should I expect the battery to last?

We got 2 years out of my wife's 2011 X3 fobs. Used daily. I actually just replaced the battery about a month ago. 5 minute job. Takes longer getting the battery from the store. My X3 fob which is used maybe once a week is still going strong. Not throwing any replace battery messages on iDrive.
I'd think the hassle of rotating fobs to extend battery life would not be worth all the troubles of messing with profiles etc. |
