VRSF 7in IC installed. Sits low?

Just installed today, but noticed it sites a bit low with the factory bumper. Only about half, maybe a little more, is showing for air flow. It's up snug, is this normal?

Yes normal as long as when you installed it, it sat flush at the mounting tab/screw points. Mine is installed correctly and I think it sits lower than OEM.

I used a dremel and cut about 3/8" off the plastic tabs to get the intercooler as high as possible

Yup, that's why I was scratching my head, it's as up and those tabs will go but still lower. Oh well, time for M3 rep.

I went with M3 rep bumper for the VRSF 7" IC. The stock bumper just does not have enough rooms for this IC!

It really depends, I've installed our FMIC on dozens of cars and I've noticed that the conventional E90 bumper is just large enough whereas the E92 and m-sport bumpers have a bit of room.

Just double check and see if the tabs are flush with the plastic mounts, if they are then that's how it's meant to be mounted. It's certainly not as low as some other brands but it should sit a little lower than the OEM due to the increased height

Some photos. I plan on getting the M3 front soon anyhow. It doesn't bother me, just thought it was going to sit higher. If that's what its suppose to be then that's what it's suppose to be.

You really want to get a picture of the gap between the radiator and the top of the FMIC.

It's the stock bumper. My HPF 7" sits the same way. Get the M-Tech and you won't have this issue.

Yes, I think it was about an hour and a half.

As far as the gap with the radiator and IC, smaller gap the better right? I'll have to check it later after work.

Definite plans for a new bumper, probably going with M3 rep though for now though. I'd like to do the lci mtech but I have to calm down a little with this mod-bug disease.

I see you've done your fair share of curb-scraping as well. Glad I'm not the only one

Man I was so pissed when I did it. It was actually really bad; LF corner. So bad a piece was dangling. I never did such a thing to any car I've ever owned as I always am really careful around parking curbs - evidently not that moment. My grandpa mended it with some epoxy and actually turned out pretty good but it's still shot and I can't stand looking at anymore.

That looks proper since you don't have the M sport bumper, besides mine I've Installed two vrsf 7" on the 135 & 335 with M bumper and all went in smoothly and sat perfectly fine .
Here's mine on my 135i
