cabin filter- which direction

All,

Which way does the air flow through the ducts? I'm replacing my cabin filter and the arrow on the filter must match the direction of the airflow. I can't tell which was is right

per OCcaraholic

"It's located under the passenger side under dash cover. If you remove the under dash cover, you will clearly see an arch shaped cover which is part of the climate system. Removing the arch cover will give you access to the cabin filter."

Are cabin air filters covered under the 4 years included maintenance for those in the US?

Should be. Not sure what the change interval is though.

Easiest thing would be to just check which direction the arrows are pointing before you take the old ones out, or if there aren't arrows check which side is dirtier and that side will be the tail side of the arrow on the new filter

Based on what they have done with my current car, they will change out the cabin filter annually.

Hi all,

I couldn't wait untill sunday, so i just changed the filter and looked wich direction the Arrow was pointed before removal.

The Arrow must point at the front of the car :-)

Flow from front of car to yhe back... Therefore the arrow should point to the back of the car...

From this tutorial, it seems the arrow is pointing to the front of the car. So the air duct is designed with air flow from the back of the car to the front of the car at the filter location.

I've just replaced mine and the old one (installed by the dealer under the maintenance plan) had the arrow pointing to the engine.

Arrow should point TOWARDS the cabin and INTO the car.

I also verified with FCP Euro as well:

"For filters, an arrow marking will generally denote the direction of flow (so in this case the air flows into the cabin, so you'd want that arrow facing into the car)."

Interesting how much confusion there is on this simple topic.

I haven't changed mine yet, but the instructions that came with it say the arrow goes in the direction of the airflow. It's possible that the flow is from the rear of the car towards the front, but I can't say until I do change mine.

You're not kidding. So I looked it up on newtis. Here's the install for my car:

Direction of travel?

Is that the airflow through the air conditioning unit? Or the direction of travel of the automobile?

Then I'm supposed to reverse it?

It's the direction of air flow travel, so you should point the arrow towards yourself, as the air is coming out of the vent and into the cabin. At least that's how it was done on all the other cars I've owned.

Yes, but the instructions say to put the filter into the A/C unit with the arrow pointing in the "opposite" direction after you make sure it's pointing in the direction of travel.

Clear as mud. It reminds me of the Chinglish I had to decipher on some cheap junk I bought at the "orange" home store.
