Paying over MSRP?? no thanks!
So this is more of a rant... I was number one on my dealer's list for an M4 and was willing and agreed to pay full MSRP (yes... I know!). Recently I emailed him about lease rates after the pricing was released. In the pricing that was provided, I noticed he used an MF of 0.0017 instead of 0.0013. When I asked him about it, he said "that is our mark up. Sorry, we can't do at the buy rate". I responded with saying that MSRP is already above invoice pricing and that I'd shop around.
Ridiculous! Thinking of just getting a good deal on a 435... any other suggestions? I live in the Silicon Valley area. Btw the quote I got was 1,129/month for a car with MSRP 69,775. (10K miles per year) |

I guess you can always walk or finance the car from other sources. Or tell the SA that you will pay that rate but when the post customer survey come, you would sure give them a terrible score so they will lose out on the CSI bonus.

It all sounds like a lot of nonsense for a 3 series. Coupe or sedan. Just wait a bit, you will get this great car for the right numbers a year from now, that's all~!

If you have a relationship with the dealer I'd make a fuss; they should do the right thing to KEEP you as a customer. If not, just wait...in 6-12 months allocations will have increased, the initial furor will have died down and you should be able to negotiate under MSRP.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I actually need a car right now (and am driving a rental) and was just waiting till late June/July because of the M4. I am still relatively new to the bay area and never dealt with this dealership before. What really annoys me is this cheap tactic to charge over MSRP when we had decided on MSRP ahead of time. Are these cars that highly sought after? Actively searching for an alternative at the moment...
@emranc I might PM you if I decide to still go for a BMW... hoping that your SA can get me a good deal |

Some dealers have a 40 basis mark up on every lease per their corporate policy. This is a profit for the back end. The Finance managers don't work for free.
It's pretty interesting how everyone wants to buy a car at or below invoice and at the buy rate. Newsflash. Dealerships are NOT a non-profit organization.

These are the times that the dealers relish. When demand far outweighs the supply for the latest bright shiny object. The tide will change in a couple years as it pertains to the F8X.
