328i proving to be reliable???

Hello all, been around for awhile...been through a tumultuous few months in the professional life but things are getting back on track (thankfully never unemployed just made a move I regretted and am hitting reset).

That should put me on the car market early next year. But truth is, I'm always on the lookout for my next vehicle. I'm a big fan of the F30 3 series along with the A4/S4 and the new 2014 IS350. I haven't seen a 2015 C class yet or driven one.

I was impressed with my buddies 2012 328 XDrive. Quick, good MPG, good cabin materials, etc.

Downsides are that it seemed rather noisy inside compared with my buddies E90 and another friends S4.

Reliability will be of moderate importance, although I certainly can "afford" just about whatever maintenance is required, I would prefer to have something that is reasonably solid that won't require radiator replacements, water pumps, etc that really shouldn't fail on a modern car before 100k miles.

My friends E90 has been rock solid (actually know several guys with them) and the only issue any of my friends have had was a HPFP failure on the 2008 335i. I'll probably pickup a slightly used 2013 BMW, Audi or a 2014 Lexus IS350....

I welcome any thoughts and experiences on the 328i vs is competition or just the general ownership experience...

The biggest drawback perhaps to BMW for me is the local dealership and their terrible reputation for customer treatment

Try to buy/lease new, you'll be covered under the BMW Maintenance plan. In three years, I haven't paid a single penny for maintenance on my X5. This is covered up to 4 yrs/50k miles from original delivery date/mileage.

Similarly, for certified pre-owned the original service plan applies if still within the 4yr/50k limit, but you can also purchase an extended warranty/maintenance plan. My parents did on their CPO 2010 X5 and has saved them a ton as well.

Hope this helps.

if you can, get a Demo model...........it'll have some milage on it (not too much) and will save you a good chunk of money.......and you still have a warranty.

43,000mls in 20 months - no issues really. Certainly no issues with the 28i.
