Actual PSI Displayed & Hampton Roads Coder

Hi,

Have a 2014 328i with Tech package. Thought I have read that you can code the car so that the actual tire pressure (PSIs) can be displayed on the tire pressure monitor screen. Is that the case or do I need special sensors?

BTW, anyone know of someone who does coding down here in the Virginia Beach/Norfolk/Hampton Roads Area?

You need 609 Navigation Professional and 2VB Tyre Pressure Control (TPC), then you can code it to enable Pressure and Temp readings in addition to the color code display.

Well, I know I have the Professional Nav as it was part of the tech package.

How do I tell if I have this 2VB package? If not, what does adding it entail?

Thanks

2VB is actual sensors in the valve stems, and transmitters to relay the data.

Since you have U.S. Spec'd car, you should have 2VB.

Great! So all I have to do is get the coding done to display the actual tire pressure on the TPM screen of the iDrive -- is that correct?

Thanks

Yes. With 2VB, it just needs coding.

PM sent,

You will specifically need to code Head Unit (HU_ENTRY, or HU_CHAMP or HU_CIC, or HU_NBT) for RDC_SAFETY = aktiv.

ShawnSheridan,

In fact, I just coded: HU_NBT/3001/EXBOX/RDC_SAFETY to aktiv (I have Tech pkg so it's NBT rather than CIC) and it works like a champ, displaying tire pressure & temperature for each tire on the TPMS screen

Thank you very much!!

The Tech Package is why you have 609 Navigation Professional, but it has nothing to do with NBT versus CIC. You have NBT because F30 model year 2014 replaced CIC with NBT. You can't get a 2014 with CIC.

Beaucoup Thanks!

BTW, I also coded Weatherband Radio:
HU_NBT/3001/AUDIO_TUNER_TRAFFIC/RADIO_WEATHERBAND to aktiv.

Nothing shows up on the list of radio options; is this one of those you have to wait a while for?

Again, your help has been tremendous!

WEATHERBAND works on CIC, but it doesn't work on NBT for some strange reason.

Are you sure Navigation Personal required? I had it coded yesterday on a 2014 without nav and I can see the individual tire pressure. Or is this something else?

It was at one time. It could be newer head units are capable of it now.

Do you have HU_ENTRY or HU_CHAMP?

No idea, I didn't do the coding. Is there a way I can check without having cables and software?

Probably, but I don't know how myself. I only know how from reading the car with E-Sys.

Ok, thanks. If it works with HU_ENTRY, then it should work with any Head Unit.

Will someone take a pic of where/how it displays. That's a pretty neat function, it just adds that data to the TPMS screen of the center idrive screen ? Wanting to see if it's worth it to finally get my car coded with all these things.
