Low Oil. Add a quart?
I'm 3.5k miles in and today I received a warning to add a quart of oil asap (at minimum) . I turned off my car and turned it on again to do a 'oil measurement', surprisingly the oil level turned out to be fine again after the reset. (about a quarter to max). I was glad it was normal after some searching. My questions are:
After the oil measurement, i haven't driven the car yet. Would i be fine to drive it for at least a couple more days? Should i go ahead and add a quart? or wait until the message pop up again? Should i go to the dealer for this or just grab a quart of oil? |

It's probably a matter of time before the alert comes back, I had this at about 5k. If you're close to a service center, just stop by and have them top it off for you free of charge. Otherwise you can probably add oil yourself. I doubt driving it short distances for a couple more days would do any harm.

There's no need to panic about this. When the car tells you to 'add a quart asap', be sure that its well in advance. There's about 5l of oil in the engine so when that drops to 4l, its not the end of the world. Even if you'd drive it for another few 100Km.
Once the warning comes on once, it might then be on&off for a while but it will ofcourse return. Just add a quart or have it done for free if thats possible.
