Holy crap are you missing the point buddy! The materials aren't the issue, how about the time it took someone to figure out how to plug in and splice exactly into the BMW's ECU and send a variable signal to the computer and make the car think that your o2 sensor is working fine when you don't have a smog system on the car? R&D is where the cost comes from not the price of a wire.
