Have i done the right thing???

Well i have been toying with the idea with getting rid of the 1M as i am sick of not having 5 seats in the car.... So today i have just put in my order for a Yas Marina Blue M3.. i nearly settled for a 335d X Drive but my wife soon put me off that.... So it is going to be Good by 1M but hello M3 ... So i will have up forsake my winter wheels and performance V1 steering wheel soon.....

Hi. An M3 would not be my first choice of car to drive in the ugly salty road conditions of winter...but there's no reason you won't be able to fit winter tires. It won't be a great hill climber, but I've used high quality winter tires for years on "un-drivable" sports cars and had few mobility issues in the snow. Well, as long as it isn't deep, or seriously potholed ice. Clearance frequently limits more than tire traction.

Perfectly said... I most likely will have to get a Jeep Cherokee as a DD for fall and winter months as DC has been really crappy lately with cold and snowy weather. I am sure you can drive it around with snow tires but dont count on the car to handle like an AWD. I have an e90 x drive on snow tires and its a freaking tank

Good decision. The M3 should very much feel like a better 1M. Everything is similar but upgraded, at least on paper.

Hard to say whether it is right or wrong - only you can make that call. But, certainly it will be a more practical car. I'm curious why you need five seats? Three kids? And the 1M is currently your daily driver? If, so for sure this is a good call.

I don't think the lack of xDrive should be a problem at all since obviously the 1M did not have that either.

Agree, and I love the 1M

The engine and stability from the wider track and longer wheelbase will be two of the largest upgrades.

I have an E90 M3 and shuttle two kids in child seat/booster daily. It's a fantastic DD with sufficient space. My smallest was 2 when I got this car and my oldest is now 9. I think I have much harder to come to terms with giving up my car since it's very, very different from the F80. I know I'm giving up a lot vs the F80 but hopefully gaining more.

Your salesman should be able to enter the order. It will be pending and all the pricing shows up as "blocked".

At least that's what it was like for me.

Seems like the M3 is a good call. Although I am not sure how much I'd let the fact that my son has a girlfriend dictate the type of car I drive , it sounds like your kids are old enough to where it will make life easier if you have at least one five-seater in the family.

Maybe your wife will like the car so much she'll want an F83. That would make for a very nice stable.

I'm having trouble deciding to trade in my 2013 e92 m3, for the f8x m.

I can't imagine the difficulty in choosing to get rid an exclusive beast like the 1m.

My m3 is good with snow tires in PA and we had a crappy winter. I live in a hilly neighborhood and it can have trouble climbing the hills, but so did hondas, mazdas, and other FWD cars.

I think the M3 is a great choice over the 335 as well. The 1M was nice, but you will be very happy not to sacrifice performance and gain an extra seat
