M5 Unlocked Dash Menu

M5 Unlocked Dash Menu

I have been using this a lot lately.
I find Tank, Temperature, Speedo/Rev, and a few others the most useful.

Can anyone elaborate on what the more complicated ones are all about, such as "Check"?

I believe "Start Roller" is what they use at the factory. At the last stage the vehicles are rolled on a dyno for a function check. It probably allows the machine to begin and turns off ESC so it doesn't interrupt the test.

I plan to look through my coding laptop soon to see if the euro value formats can be changed or not.

To Access: Hold ODO reset button down until menu appears. Just be careful that you don't accidentally get into the CBS (condition based service) area. I will attach a screenshot so you can see what is CBS and what is the unlocked dash menu.

To Navigate: Short press to move up/down. Long press to select/return to parent menu.

Unlock Code: Sum of last seven numbers in your VIN.
Example: M105510 = Unlock Code: 12

Menu Structure (Unlocked)

04 Test End

So will this allow setting the seat coolers lower etc or is that a different menu?

Where did you get that from? Maybe you are confused between the unlocked dash menu and coding?

The hidden/unlocked dash menu is basically for showing advanced informational data.. like exact temperature of oil and coolant, exact amount of gas in the tanks, and etc info as shown above.

There is also something called coding where you can "code" different modules in the M5. If you want to make the ventilated seats more effective, that is something that can be coded - however this is unrelated to the hidden dash menu. There are tons of other modules and features that can be coded.. like showing tire pressure and temp, folding mirrors when car is locked, and many many others. I have a PDF of features that can be coded and what modules they are within. It can be found in the navigation/iDrive/audio fourm as a sticky named M5 Coding List.

very interesting info Avlnch
will try to access it today

do you think there is a way to change oil changes intervals in CBS through this settings or it needs to be coded?
cause as we know LCI's m5 have their oil change intervals shortened by half, i would love to have it in my car as well
as i have service pack and don't see a point paying for mid-cycle oil changes myself, when exact same engine in exact same car with new lights and new steering wheel gets it for free!
i spoke to my technician from bmw, he said he will talk to main M technician, but he is a bit of a c***, took my technician to convince main M tech to change my suspension (due to known clunking noise) 3 weeks!
so i doubt they will reprogram my CBS ! but there should be a way to trick them

That's what I think.

So i would assume we could use this if we dyno now for better results due to open hood, front tires not rolling ect>?

I have a feeling it's only meant to work when it's plugged into the BMW factory computer/dyno.

When you start it, no light or indicators appear. But, it's worth a try next time you dyno your M5.

It would be nice if it were some special ECU mode for when on a dyno.
