Advice on Differential/Posi Traction!!
Hey Guys- Not sure if i'm posting this on the correct thread so if im not let me know please. I got a 2008 E92 and looking to get power to both real wheels. Looking for some advice as to what to go with as far as brand/maker and any idea on price. I looked into the DINIAN DIF and it cost around $3,800 installed. I thought that is a little high?? Any advice?? Thanks!!

You want an LSD that fits in our pumpkin. Quaife is one. I forget who makes the other one. should be under 1000 for the part. Install is DIY'able

Install is diyable only if your current diff is bolted and not welded to the fly wheel. Or if you are handy with a torch and a CNC grinder. Unfortunately you won't know until you take it apart but odds are if you are 2007+ yours is welded. I also read accurate shimming is important.
Good read here http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=648271 Distro in UK from birds. Or VAC or HP in USA. Wavetrack is the other major brand. |

Interesting.....But why not just buy a new ring and pinion (exact same ratio) instead of all the costly machining? Or just get a good used M3 diff and slap it in?

OP, M3 rear dif requires the M3 rear subframe and a custom made driveshaft. It is not even remotely close to a real slap in solution. As for buying new and unnecessary parts that will still cause you shimming issues for proper backlash and preload...just buy a wave track or quaife from Harold at hpautosport or from VAC motorsport. I think total cost on either of those units WITH machining is 2thousand something. |
