Which is the better e90 buy?
Hello all,
I am very new to this forum. Trying to decide between 2 E90s. I would appreciate your inputs. 1. 09 328xi 6speed Sport - 87k - Grey/black - $17,950 http://www.dpautogroup.com/used/BMW/...532f6d2d3b.htm 2. 11 328xi 6speed Premimum+nav - 104k - Black/Black - $23,950 http://www.dpautogroup.com/used/BMW/...f2192d6aa0.htm Which is the better buy? Is the '11 worth the extra 6,000? even-though it has 10k More kms? I could afford more, but cheaper is better 09 is almost 5 years old no, but it has the sport package and is a lot cheaper. Thanks in advance |

If you don't mind me asking, are you stuck on 328? Not considering 335?
(this shouldn't really be in For Sale, probably better placed in the regular Canada section) |

I personally wouldn't consider an E90 without the sport package, but that's just me. The seats alone are worth it.
I also don't care for in-dash GPS so that wouldn't be a make-or-break, but I will say I like the interior colour combo on the '11 a little bit better. But at the end of the day, the choice is yours. Personally, I don't think it's worth the extra dough. $6k more for what; 2 years newer and Nav? Whoop-de-doo! And you lose the nicer seats/steering wheel/etc. If you end up getting the '09, let me know if you'd be willing to part with the piano-black interior trim Good luck!

The 2011 doesn't look like a good deal. You can find better priced cars out there.
Sport package is a big plus. The steering wheel and seats are much better than non sport. Trust me I have owned both. Other than that, I think xi models dont have "sport suspension" (not 100% sure on that one though) |

Take it from a guy that has a 335 and a 323...
You will have fun with both cars...more with a 335 but consider the issues: HPFP, turbos, etc. you want to drive a car with less headaches go for a inline 6 NA In the end its up to you...Like I tell everyone that wants a 335...you gotta pay to play My 2 cents...ohh ya post in the right section next time :P B EDIT: Sport seats are comfy and the steering wheel looks waaay nicer I can take picks of the difference if you want or just google Last edited by KiX1911; 01-23-2014 at 04:13 PM.. Reason: EDIT: sport seats |

Thanks everyone for the reply.
I wanted to stay away from the 335i due to the frequency of problems. Since i'm buying used, it'll be out of warranty, so i'd rather avoid the issues 335i may develop. I'll be test driving them tomorrow, the 09 will definitely be cheaper on the wallet. I thought newer would be better? the difference in mileage is about 17 k but the price difference is huge. Are they any other differences between the 09 and the 11 model years? |

I bought an 08 328 coupe last month with only 55k on it....needless to say, it runs like new...a one year newer model and only 87k shouldn't be much different.

Either one of them i advise you to check their car proof, the dealer will provide it to you if you go there, because a dealer selling a 328xdrive w/ sport package for that price it's not accident free. I wouldn't trust those dealers, check the car brand dealers for their used cars.

the above is not always true. i purchased my car for what was a pretty low price at the time, from a reputable smaller used-car-only dealership, and it had a clean CarProof and very low mileage.
Be careful, be thorough, do your due dilligence, and you'll be fine.

I came from a v6 mustang so the 328i was out of the question for me, I was planning to upgrade not downgrade.
The 335i's power is insane for the price, there is no competition. The 328i's power is slower than any v6's out there and gas mileage is even worse than the gas hungry VQ37 I am sure you can find a 335i for 23k. Pre-LCI e90's looks too dated nowadays, if you must get a 328 then get a LCI because they still look good. If you're going to mod the car, pre-LCI's can still look good. However I'd assume you're not because you're not looking at the 335i. |

just a heads up... if you looking to buy warranty for the car, but from BMW and get their warranty. don't get 3rd party.
I have 3rd party and I'll tell you its shit. I'm with lubrico warranty and first time something happened and said ok car has warranty i'll go though the warranty company. 1. you can't use your own auto shop you have to use theirs or else they only give you maybe a max 80% back. 2. they may not cover anything even if you take full coverage. and fight with you based on this. buying from bmw and taking their warranty you only deal with bmw. didn't see you mention anything about warranty but though i'd add this in. Also to add! when i bought mine (non-bmw shop) performance was no where where it should be, it was extreamly slugish and i was going to take it back to the dealer. didn't get time and I ended up needing a oil change. I bought the BMW oem oil and all the issues I had from before were gone after driving for about 50km. so keep that in mind as well when buying from non-bmw shop they may use regular oil on your car as they tell you they do all of this prior. and make sure and check spark plugs, and battery. 6 months after i bought mine i had a oil gasket leak, some kind of sensor to be replaced, spark plugs and battery. warranty covered the labor and oil gasket. but 1500 out of my pocket to fix everything else.

I'll shed some light from a different angle.
TL;DR Carfax might look legit, but there might have been repairs; find a friend if possible and just look closely. I bought my 06 E90 330xi from that exact same place a year ago. They will hand you a carfax/proof with the car being (mostly) clean and free of accidents. Assuming that the carfax is legit, it will seem like a good deal. But I'd suggest you look at the car very very closely. Through out the year, I've noticed a few things that suggests that my car has been in an accident, possibly multiple. The side and hood has definitely been repainted. The car had 115k km on it when I purchased it, and the hood was without a single chip. 3 or 4 months of owning my car I've noticed chips on the hood as I do a lot of highway driving. One of the outer tail lights is made by DEPO and not BMW OEM. The camber on one of the driver side front wheel is as if it has camber plate; it doesnt. So, if you know someone who knows about car repairs, bring them with you to check it out. |
