Canadian options choices are poor

Canadian options are tied too heavily into packages. In my case I do not want a sunroof, but would like a backup camera and navi. Well according to the pricing guide, they are all locked into one option package for the M235i so it's all or nothing.

Hmm. Call that dealer and ask for option 403 - that's the stand-alone sunroof for $1,500.

It's also included in package Z2J (premium) if you want to spend the $4,500

Ummm... Why would I call a dealer for a sunroof option when (as I said in my post) I do NOT want a sunroof??

What have you got against the sunroof? Lol. I didn't order one either. The navigation is def bundled in the pkg. I didn't order that either and would've passed even if nav was standalone.

Standard method, either live with it or not.

at least you can get the M235i without a sunroof. I don't want it at all, but it is standard : (. I have the sunroof on my 128i, which I use maybe once a year, and it makes wind noises at 70 mph : (

And it takes weight right off the top, literally.

Are you suggesting a sunroof reduces weight? The opposite is true.

Suggesting? I thought that statement was explicit. Perhaps you've not accounted for the extra gear required by the sunroof. The other advantage is marginally more headroom.

Sunroofs add weight and reduce headroom.

Definitely no sunroof, they tend to ruin the look of a sports car. As for the NAVI, if it's the same piece of shit I have now in my 2011 135, then this option is another delete.

I plan on ordering the M235 in March of 2015, hopefully the bugs of a first year car will have been worked out and more M options will be available.

Exactly. Not sure how anyone thought I was suggesting otherwise.

Actually, while I agree that I hardly use the moonroof (for extra air), it is a must, as it lets in tonnes of light, and all sports cars have them. Just go for the $4,500 pkg, as there are far too many basic options in there that u'll need. A premium car w/o a moonroof is unheard of these days IMHO.

I suppose it's a matter of personal preference; for me the sunroof would be a delete if it was included. I don't want it for air or light. Same for the Premium Package: some of the items would be nice, but none are indispensible and the whole package is not worth $4,500 to me. I might have ordered comfort access and the rear view camera individually if the prices were reasonable for each.

The other thing I found cheesy was that you are required to order the Premium Pkg if you want either the Executive Pkg ($2,500) or the ConnectedDrive Services. So if you "need" any one of adaptive headlights or Sirius tuner, the HK sound or hi-beam asst (among the Exec Pkg) then you're paying $7,000 even if there's not a blessed thing in the Premium Pkg you want. Similarly, if there's only one thing in the Connected Pkg, like integrating your smartphone thru convenience telephony (far more useful than a sunroof) then you're paying a total of (not $850 for connected) but $5,350.

That's what I consider "unheard of."
