I'm quite excited about the 4/2 piston brakes however I want to ask you experts what this actually means. Will there be a noticeable difference in stopping between F8X and E9X? How do these pistons work and make a difference?

Sorry for the dumb question.
Four pistons front. Two in the rear. No one knows the stopping distance deltas between the two platforms since one of them hasn't been released yet.

Are you sure you searched?

I was actually asking from a more general point of view of having pistons vs not having them and how they improve braking and what do you *think* will be the improvement in this case.

Well your standard disc brake will have at least *one* piston.

The fixed caliper is the key. It will apply pressure to the rotor equally on both sides and should give better pedeal feel. The number of pistons really doesn't matter, as long as it's a fixed caliper.

As for stopping distance, that's really dependent on the tires. A simple sliding caliper can lock up the wheels, so it won't stop any better than a multi-piston caliper.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

Bingo. Pads matter more for fade and tires more for traction (stopping distance) as opposed to calipers or piston count affecting much.
