Pin Extractor tool for Radio connector E91
Morning all.
Again, one more hiccup in my prep for the 6FL retrofit I'm going to be doing: I was originally looking to fit a parrot kit, but like the OEM look of the E91 I have. However, I'd already ordered one of these: http://www.strike.com.au/products/Pa...85-2001-Ac01AA This is great, as it allows me to do the hardest part of the work, plugging in the retrofit power supply into the connector that goes into the back of the radio, before actually doing any work inside the car. However, I've hit a hitch: I don't have any tools small enough that can actually extract the pins: The full harness: The connector in question: Is there a tool available from BMW, or, failing that, a tool available from elsewhere? Cheers in advance, Paul |

Yep. Once you work out how the tab works (i.e. which side mainly), the smallest jeweller flat blade screwdriver should do the job.
Try not to push the tab in too far (just enough so it slides out) or too often so it doesn't break. They're not really designed to go in and out multiple times. Once out pull out the tab slightly so it catches if you need to put it back in. |

It helps to use a magnifying glass and a lot of light to look into the face of the connector body to see how the tab is positioned. Also, having some pulling tension (very slight) on the wire when you move the tab helps the pin slide out.

Thanks guys..... I've managed to work out how it's locked, and managed to find a suitable tool (the tweezers from my pen knife), but I still can't get it out. I need to get some of the blade connectors anyway, so I'll ask parts / servicing also.
Cheers all... |
