Magnaflow after six months.
This is how the Magnaflow setup sounds after 6 months. I think there isn't much of a difference compared when installed.

Where did you get the 3" tips at? My car sounds like it has a bigger engine. I wish I had the sound of the V10 M5 engine.

What magnaflow muffler fits the Z4? I know the Z4 muffler is a little more stout then other BMW mufflers in terms of length. Thanks, sounds great

In reality, I replaced the resonator with a small Magnaflow muffler and installed straight pipes with tips where the the stock muffler was.

been to a couple shops trying to get this setup installed.... been under the car with the fabricators. can't seem to figure out a way to fit the magnaflow muffler in without bashing in the heat shield around the resonator in... muffler is about 1" too wide.
also to fit it in there we would more or less have to bend the pipes coming out of the converter at 90 degrees, which isn't the best solution for free flowing exhaust. going to have to find a smaller muffler or something.... or *gasp* spend 2 months salary on a pre-fab cat-back. kind of frustrating... |

The muffler shop where I took my car didn't mention to me any of the above mentioned problems. Maybe, they had them, I don't know! I guess that competent shops encounter problems like that all the time. It shouldn't be much of a problem if they know what they are doing. It's not impossible cause I had it done on mine. Don't give up man! Go to another shop.

Jpass, Any chance of getting some actual photos of the install? You've got a number of us on the edge of following in your footsteps. I've got a 2007 coupe and would like to see if there might be any fit problems. Thanks
BTW, great car color. |

It is definitely louder! I don't think it is obnoxious. Remember that I didn't use resonator tips. I think that the resonator tips can actually mellow it out. I will try to take a few pics of my setup.
