BMW Car Insurance

Just phoned up to arrange my free 7 days insurance and they did an annual quote at the same time. Absolutely shocked at the price it came back with despite them mirroring my 12 years no claims. They wanted £1150 a year . A crazy price considering I have quotes at £550 with no NCD (I'm keeping my 12 years on another car).

Has anyone actually taken out BMW insurance. If so, how comparable was it to using Go Compare and other price comparison sites?

4 years ago they quoted me £1250 for my Z4M Roadster, I was only paying £750 for my 997 Turbo with Porsche Insurance (Marsh) who also through in 2 days track day cover.

I used them years ago, underwritten by UK insurance, now it seems to be Allianz Insurance as Clinton mentioned. They were ok (no increase) with the 335i piggyback and non RFT's then all of a sudden were too expensive perhaps when they changed underwriter?

My insurance was due to renewed on 01/01/14 so went to BMW, saved £10 on renewal from Admiral, not a lot but cover slightly better. Full NCD, legal protection, NCD protected, drive other cars etc. £320 not bad really and if by chance it needs a repair will go to BMW and BMW hire car supplied.

I'm with BMW, was about the same as other 'proper' insurance companies (i.e. Not internet brokers). Car gets fixed at a BMW repair shop swung it for me. Just had a renewal from them and they have dropped the price by £100.

BMW Insurance were too expensive. I am with LV, Central London, £450, 5 years NCD + NCD Protection, £200 total excess. It was cheaper buying directly from them than from the Internet Insurance Comparison websites.

Strange. I paid £345 for mine with BMW insurance. I didn't bother getting other quotes as this looked competitive. Obviously it varies with the individual, due to age (me 44, wife 43), NCD (several years) and location (Berkshire), but this seemed like a pretty good price to me.

Yeah that's really cheap. Cheapest I've had a quote for is £382, that's with my 12 years NCD, 35, 3 points, Berkshire also. I think it was Quotemehappy. So far I've got a quote with no no claims and everything else the same at £580 ish, which isn't too bad considering. I'll be phoning BMW insurance again next week though, just in case.

My quote from Directline was a nadge over £500, then BMW were at £550 which surprised me. So I've stayed with Dirtectline and will barter in June when it comes up again. Age 50, garaged, wife included, 18 years NCB etc

As per NISFAN the BMW repair bit will probably swing it if there's only a *** paper between them.

EDIT - wow I've been auto censored !!! Can anyone guess what *** is?

Nice one... I think we all can! you set the alarm off when you got the word 'nadge' in, whatever that means. I will check my encyclopaedia of urban slang and expressions when back to work.

Give Hastings Direct a go. My 320d E92 was £850 a year with Direct Line and they wanted another £300 a year on top for the new 330d. That's with full NCD but one accident 12 months ago.

Hastings Direct were £400 a year for the 330d and that included extra cover such a replacement key cover, European cover, etc that the other policy didn't. Seem to be a up and coming company and they even validated my NCD while I was on the phone to them electronically.
