M5 versus B7
As soon as I hopped on the highway some Jeep SRT wanted to go. My M5 was cold.. I wasn't going to rape it for a Jeep.
Then a B7 came running up and spotted me. We stayed close until there was a safe area to have a go. '13 M5: 560hp / 500tq '14 B7: 540hp / 540tq Started at top of 3rd at almost 80mph. Ended at maybe around 150mph to begin slowing down for traffic ahead. I was alone in the car and my focus was on driving and nothing else. So these are estimates by every time I glanced at my HUD. Began pulling on the B7 at about 100. Half car length before 120 and about 1.5-2 car lengths by 150. The B7 is an awesome car. It was stock and it sounded very, very nice. Was a good driver as well, not easy to come by a decent driver these days. We did three horns. He false started and we quickly reset and went again. In 2006 I owned a E60 M5 and a 2007 Alpina B7. They were always dead even until 100-120 where the M5 (V10) would pull away and take off. Much respect for the B7, a car that's 300lbs heavier, a little down on power, and it still keeps up with the M5 pretty well. Alpina is one of my favorite brands.

Nice write up. Agreed, hard to find good drivers out there. Also agreed not to waste time with an srt8 jeep. How did 150 feel? I've only got up to 125 so far and I'm impressed at how poised the M5 is on the road.

As many on here can tell you, the M5 is quite stable at the 150 mark. That was in a straight line however, I haven't tried any long sweepers at that speed, but I think the car would remain planted given appropriate traction. The car certainly can be deceiving and if you don't look at the HUD it's very easy to be going much faster than you realize.

B7 honestly did better than I expected. According to Motor Trend they dyno slightly lower than factory figures suggest. N63s still got some punch

B7 is an awesome car! Mr. Thomas along with his z8 alpina drives a blacked out B7. The car is a beast but its a huge car and you def feel it on the road. Surprised to see that it was hanging with your M5.
