first stubborn water spot

on an otherwise spotless car...

I hit it with a quick detailer and a mirofiber, but nothing happened.

i've got a wide variety of products, but want to treat the car as best as possible. I don't want to treat the entire hood, just the spot. any thoughts? clay bar maybe to see if it comes up? something gentle on the paint?

the car is almost 2 months old, and only has about 700 miles.

Have you tried a water spot remover? Duragloss makes one IIRC
You could try a clay-bar (as you suggested) followed by a mild polish
