Video through USB
After having a search through the forums I couldn't really find and answer to this...
I can watch video through DVD no problem and my iPod works fine through USB (audio). However, I can't seem to play video through a USB stick plugged into the centre armrest socket. I have pronav but no EBT. I don't get a video option under the 'more media' menu. Any suggestions? Thanks! |

Apparently 6NR BMW Apps is required for playing video from USB. See this thread for more info:

Didn't think it was linked to BMW Apps....
You could always code the car quite easily... http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=816955 You can ignore the DLNA and wifi bits...

I'm not exactly sure with extras you need, but I do have Apps and EBT and I can play video using an external USB Drive in the centre console port, I've so far tested MP4, M4V (Apples MP4) and AVI, works perfectly fine. I placed the videos in a folder on the Drive called Videos, don't think the name of this is important but I'm sure it only worked when I placed them in a folder somewhere on the USB Drive (rather than dumping the videos straight to the root of the drive).

Hi, OP, you don't need EBT to do this. You need to code video over USB to do this. I've done it in my car. Look for my post on Video via USB not Ipod. When I get home I'll look up the code changes I made to enable this and post it here. I'm getting pretty comfortable coding the car now so if anyone needs any help PM me.

I don't have Business Nav to try it I'm afraid, but I have seen posts stating that it does work on Business Nav. Remember this is not even working by default even though it's supported, so it doesn't even work on pro-nav (video over USB). On business nav, can you play a DVD or does it not include a DVD drive? I suspect it should work even if there is no DVD drive, as the head unit is the same, just a different screen, and further locked down by coding/enabled codecs.
Album art works on a connected USB drive, ipod touch, and as for streaming I'm struggling to remember what it was like pre-EBT, but I'm pretty certain it only worked post-EBT. So that would be a yes, you need EBT to get album art via BT (MAP). |

I was meaning album art on a USB stick, so i should get it on my car with bus nav and no EBT when i get it!
Be even cooler if i can code it to play videos too! Please post link to the instructions for coding it when you can mate! So if the bus and prof head units are really the same then i should also be able to code EBT then? That would be very |
