I think it's better to go with new mags 17 or 18 "with the winter tires. It's more easy to change tires and mags than twice a year mount and unmount your tires, this will dammage your mags and tires. It's not recommended to unmounted the RunFlat tires twice a year!.

by the way 19" in the heavy snow...it's the best!

+1

Probably cheaper in the long run to buy a set of 17" or 18" rims and winter tires.

Only three winter tires available at TireRack in 19" sizing:

Continental ContiWinterContact TS810 S
Pirelli Winter 240 SnowSport; and
Pirelli Winter 240 Sottozero

I won't use 19" as winter wheels. Especially out east like Montreal.

Expensive + Damage =

+ plus 230 use 255 wide tires in the rear, is hard to get traction. Better to get a set of 18" snow wheels/tires from tirerack or sth.

19 inch is never a snow rim...due to the low profile of the tire...

I know a couple members of this borad from Finland are running 19" winters with Conti tires.

i'm not worried about the 19...as it will probably be for only a year..

so basically i just want to know the exact tire model...and the size and width and all those things...anyone know this?

Also, for the 17-18''...what would be the best setup and how much would this set me back? I'm really sorry guys...I just have 0 time to do any of this research and any help is appreciated (and i'm not saying that to elevate myself or something...i don't even have time to go out for a movie!).

Well that's the problem. The OEM 19" tire size I believe is 225/35 Front, 255/30 Rear. I don't know of any winter tires in either of those sizes. If you can find one, it'll probably be your lone choice, whether you like the tire or not. The tire companies know what they are doing. They don't make many 19" winter car tires for a reason...

A 17" or 18" package would be much better. You be looking at 225/45-17 all around, or 225/40-18 all around. Huge tire choice.

Either way you'll spend about $1300 minimum with sensors for a full set. The sky's the limit on pricing though as you can imagine.

You should be able to pick up a set of Dunlop SP Wintersport 3D 235/40/18 (225 OOS for quite some time and the 10mm won't even be noticeable) and some $200 wheels mounted, balanced and shipped to your door (including all taxes and duties) for about $2100 from TireRack.

The Dunlops are studless performance winter tire. I'm assuming that the city does a pretty good job clearing the snow and that you don't live in a remote community where you may need studded tires.

The most popluar choices on wheels have been the ASA or Sport Editions based upon cost. Good looking wheels and affordable; especially since these are just for winter.

I really appreciate how you guys can be so helpful. I think I will be going with the 17'' ASA + blizzak revo + sensors + ship + mount + caps all for ~~1700 inc. taxes...

That's farkin amazing to me. My mother's calling Mr. Gary sometime soon to make sure that all of this is good for 335i Sp package '07. If anyone has feedback on this order, please chime in.

Again, I really appreciate it guys. <3

not bad setup. actually if U have heavy snow, go for as thin tires as possible. 205 or 215. I admit they are not the best for looks, but U'll need traction in snow, not looks.
