What's your 1/4 mile drag radial set up????
Please post up guys!
Im trying to decide on a pair of wheels for the track to match up with some drag radials. Right now im debating about going with a 17x9 +35 wheel with 275/40/17 bf goodrich drag radial tire...

a 275 mm rear sounds like a 17x9.5 to me.... not 9

strange honestly try 18's then, i dont think a +1 inch diameter will make as bad as a difference as getting 20 mm wider

Is it really impossible to fit 16s over the rear calipers? I didn't think the rear brakes were that big... Don't the 328s/325s come with 16s stock? Do they use the same brakes?
I'd really try to find a 16x9 rim and mount the DRs on that. If not a 275 then a 245, it should still hook hard... I've seen street cars cut 1.6s on 245 DRs. I'm going to try and find a 16" and 17" wheel from a camaro or firebird or vette and see if it works. They use the same bolt pattern.

Really? The C5 vette wheels would be cool if the offset is right. Im not sure if 16's will fit or now but I know 17's will

The offset on C5 wheels is way off, and the bolt pattern isn't exactly the same, off by about .65mm or something like that. The specs on the 275's say they will fit on 9" wheels.

Go kosei K1 from tire rack, they are 16.8lbs and only cost $165. Get the BF Goodrich T/A II, they are bettr than the T/A. With the configuration that I gave you you will save 13-14lbs per tire/rim. If you go with a smaller tire(265 or 255) you could save another 2-3 lbs per tire.

I ended up getting BBS RC's 18x8.5 37mm offset all around... for both drag and autox applications. I'm going with Kumho V710's 245/35-18's... hope they stick For sure it'll be better than my current setup, which is all show no go.

Honestly the Kumhos aren't a very good drag tire, and 18" isn't the best for it either. Nothing really beats a real drag radial or drag slick. The composition and properties of drag vs. autox and RR tires are very different. Regardless, it will still be stickier than stock tires on the strip, and a lot stickier on the autoX.

Yes I know its going to be a compromise... but oh well didn't want to spend another ... $6-700 or so for a pair of Kosei K1's and Drag radials

I agree. I will probably skip on a drag setup as well and just go with an autoX setup which I would double up as drag use.
