noisy ventilation fan

My heater fan has recently got really noisy, almost sounding like a truck engine when it is at full blast. I suspect there are leaves caught in it or something, but cannot see anything in the engine bay.

Anyone else had this?

It's a known issue - my car had this problem. The dealer cleared out the leaves which were caught in the fan and fitted an updated cover which BMW has produced to prevent the issue re-occurring.

Same here, all fixed now though. BMW had issued an initial fix that proved ineffective but have now issued a second one that finally works.

90 minutes of cappuccino and SKY news at the dealers and it was all done

It was the known fault. The dealer cleared the leaves out and replaced the gauze whilst I was in having the winter wheels put on.

Thanks for the advice guys.

Glad you got it sorted. A small issue, but very annoying!

Speak of the devil and he shall appear !!!

Mine has just started doing it. My neighbor's silver birch tree has been dumping its leafs most of the autumn and I've been trying to keep the bit next to the wipers clear (even got a vacuum in there)

Where is the air intake along the panel?

My mums 1 series does the same but only when you turn it right up. It's booked in to be fixed at the dealer.
