Comfort Access Issues

My sister is having an issue with her e92 lci 328i. The issue she is having is that when she rubs her fingers against the drivers door ridges the car does not lock, neither does it unlock when she pulls. The passenger side door ridges and handle work perfectly fine. I am assuming the mechanism in the door itself went bad. This is the part number I am looking for. Can anyone else chime in what may be the problem?

I tried searching for a reset method of the CA without luck. Does anyone know how to reset the CA system and initialize it? I have a feeling for some reason the door sensor may have stopped communicating with the CAS.

Also note: Her trunk does not open by clicking the microswitch with key in pocket either. What do you guys think the issue is?

I'm not sure of it has anything to do with it but I was having almost the same problem, sometimes it worked sometimes it didn't, both driver and passenger side. I just recently replaced the battery on my car and the comfort access is responding better and faster now. So maybe depending on the year of your sister's car, it might be time for a new battery.

I do not think it is the battery. Any other guesses?

Same with my CA, passenger side works fine. Driver side is a hit or miss. I just learn to live with it and press the button on the FOB haha

I am having a similar issue with my 2008 E93 335i. Looking around on google, I found someone else that had some issues with that module due to it getting wet in a bad rain storm. Mine looks like it may have water damage as well (I see some actual melting on the outside of the module...looks like some shorting/arcing). It might not be a bad idea to physically have a look at the box. It can be accessed by removing the trim panels in the right side of the trunk (above the battery).

I am considering getting a replacement unit, just haven't done it yet. I believe the module is here (Item #1 in the diagram)...
