Voice entry issue

Just got a new 2011 328i with bluetooh it does not have idrive though.. I was wondering why every time I try and use my voice control button on the steering wheel it says the phone phonebook is empty

say the word "help" and it will teach u how to use it

Does anyone have any experience with driving a 2009-2011 bmw 328i in the snow without x-drive
