Need help!

Hello, guys!I'm new to this forum. The other day I came across a bmw e90 325d on a bulgarian(my home country) site for selling autos.Visually the car is perfect, but the guy who is selling it claims that the year is 2006.The problem is that the car can't be this year, since it's LCI model.I think I've bumped into this kind of situation before - the car has been stolen at some point in the past and an older wrecked bmw has been used as a twin car(I'm not sure that's the expression in English). The guy also says that it's 325d model, but with chip tuning so it's 240hp(maybe because that's what is written in the documents of the car).Apart from the documents,I suspect that the car is 330d model, but don't know how to differentiate these two models, since both have the same engine capacities.
Is there someone who can tell me of a proven way to tell the difference when I see the car in person?
Would be most grateful!
Thank you in advance

Garage List
1990 BMW 325is  [10.00]
Unless it's different in the EU, the twin tail pipes makes me think it's a 335. I was under the impression that the 330/325d would have a dual driver side pipe like the 325/330i.

Having said that, it may very well be what the seller is saying it is, but just heavily modified to look like a 335i/d.

The best way to tell is to decode the VIN, taking it directly from the car and ensuring that the VIN is consisent (they're plastered all over the car in many locations)

Get the VIN and run it.

Or do something different and take your chances.
