E85 Z4 Clear Side Signal DIY - Low Cost

I changed the amber side turn signals on my 2004 Z4 today. I chose to order the clear assembly and try to remove the roundel from the ambers and use it on the clears. The whole process was pretty easy - less than an hour for both lights.

This method is much cheaper than purchasing an entire assembly ($70 each on some sites). I ordered the two clear light assemblies from JD at Crown BMW for $14.17 each plus shipping. The only other expense is a roll of 3M Super Strength Molding Tape (1/2" wide, Part 03614) for about $10 and some Goof Off to remove the old adhesive.

Indicator Lamp Assembly (includes amber bulb) Part 63137165734 - $18.20 List
Roundel (in case you break it) 51147057794 - $27.62 List

how did you initially get the turn signal out? I was wanting to reduce its thickness there by reducing how much it protrudes from the side of the car but can seem to figure out how to get it loose. thanks

i spend 5 bucks and turned my ambers into "clears."

went to the local signage store and bought a 1 x 1 sheet of TRANSLUCENT white decal. Works like a charm and it also looks great on my Alpine White Z aka Candy Cane.
