Oil level expectation after 1,500 miles

I have been driving my car 1,500 miles and just did an oil level check and to my surprise it's not at max anymore (it was when I picked up the car). It's about a quarter of the way down. Did I buy myself an oil burner or is this expected at 1,500 miles?

Some consumption is expected during break in. Mine used 2 quarts in the first 4,000 or so miles but almost zero since then. 335i by the way, but expected for all models.

Do you see a lot of black soot on the chrome tailpipe ends? Just curious. My MY14 pipes stay surprisingly clean where most 335i I see are quickly blackened even after a good cleaning.

No soot at all. I've never cleaned them and I see nothing even after 1,500 miles. I too see some dirty tail pipes around here, but not sure why I got lucky with mine (not lucky in the rattle department tho). I only use BP 93 and Shell 93 if that makes a difference.

Normal according to BMW.
