How much deposit did you put down?

For those who have put a deposit down to be put on waiting list for the M3, how much did you have to put down and was it refundable?

I am in Kansas City but willing to travel to find the best deal. But if MSRP is the best price I can expect, is there any reason I should not just buy it from my local BMW dealer?

I put down £1000 and I think it's refundable up until it's spec'd and officially ordered so that'll be sometime into next year.

The deposit should be fully refundable. I don't think a dealer will go lower than msrp

You most likely will be looking at MSRP-10k over MSRP for the first few runs. (this will ALL depend on how many allocations each dealer gets)

Deposits are refundable and range anywhere from a hand shake to 5k from what I have seen.

I personally think it would be VERY wise to put a deposit down if you have a choice that way you have something in writing that backs up your claim to your spot. Thats just my 2 cents.

I put $500 deposit for the 1st allocation. I have in writing that I will pay full MSRP and that deposit is refundable.

As long as you do not try to back out after vehicle is ordered to your specs you should not have any issues with your deposit.

I put $3,000 down (fully refundable) through the Military Sales program, and the price will be approx. $4-5K under the MSRP

I put a $1,000 deposit down and received a paper noting this and a guarantee to buy at MSRP. Put the deposit down in November of 2012. The deposit is refundable.

What happens if there happens to be a savings for European Delivery, must that be in writing before the deposit is made or will all those taking a ED be paying full MSRP regardless (there doesn't seem to be a clear answer on ED savings yet how should this be handled)?

Put down 5k, I assume refundable, and did not discuss price. Once we know MSRP, will get something in writting.

I put 2k down. The paper says non-refundable deposit but later in the statement it says downpayment can be refunded with prior written notice.
I am lucky no. 7 on m3 waiting list.

I put a $1000 down a long time ago (must be about a year ago now) and my production week is in May. I am just starting to notice other people posting their status 111 and production sheets on the forum and this is a good sign for everyone.

Why deposit ?

Hi guys I'm new here even though I've been reading what you guys say. I'm planning on getting my first M car soon as the m3/m4 comes out and I wanted to ask you guys is it necessary for me to go make a deposit? Do you guys think they will sell out of the first batch they release or something ? Or is it that you guys are putting a deposit down to get it sooner ? I live in so cal so I'm sure it will be pretty high in demand out here. The only reason I don't want to put a deposit down is that I would like to test drive both the m3 and the m4, from my understanding they are coming out at the same time ? Also for some reason in my mind I think that if I put a deposit down then I can't really bargain with them about my lease payment. Thanks for the help guys. Sorry for the noowb questions

^^If your in CA you can almost be sure you will be paying a minimum of MSRP so chances of negotiating that at the first few runs will be very tough IMO.

Deposits are refundable so if you want one in the beginning go put a deposit down at a dealer. Test drive the car "if you can" and if you don't like it ask for your deposit back.

I would assume out here in SoCal most of the dealers already have a decent size list of people who already put deposits down so there could be a chance that you won't even see one a lot for 3-5 months so chances of getting to test drive one could be a tough task. Also a lot of dealers will not let you test drive the car if its in super demand, weird I know but that seems to be the std when it comes to high demand cars example the 1M.

Thanks for the info ! U don't think it's possible to negotiate payments on a lease ? And also is there a chance of the car selling out or something like that ?

You have a production date? I have not seen anyone with a status yet, I did not think orders had opened up?
