Coolant Question
Going to change out coolant and had a few questions.
Draining the block: Is the plug reuseable? Or one of the 1 time use types? Crush washer reusable? How many gallons/quarts for draining block and radiator? I have a gallon BMW coolant and a gallon distilled water; will it suffice? Any other quirks please let me know. |

There are several DIYs on coolant draining. There is no engine block drain on the N52; you pull the hose from the block to the pump to get what little remains in the block (it's only a few ounces). The N52 needs one gallon of coolant and one gallon water.

I did it Friday. Spent a while looking for a drain on the block! Yup, ASS!! Mine took just under 2 gallons. I like the bleeder valve on the res tank. Nice way to burp it!

There's a good diy by bmtroubleu in YouTube. I never actually did it but I watched the video he was a bmw tech and used to video tape it from the dealer.
