TORN between SUBWOOFERS. HELP!!!
Ok so I have reached an impasse and cannot decide which subwoofer package to go with.
2006 325i sedan I have a ski pass and folding seats. I am trying to decide between upgrading the underseat subwoofers or just adding one to the trunk. So I need expertise and guidance from the forum members Which setup have you chosen and why?? For underseat subwoofers the only real option in my opinion is the earthquake sws 8xi subwoofers and the appropriate amp. Here is the guide I'm referring to when doing install for underseat. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=163804 For the trunk, I have looked into an alpine sub and amp package from best buy. Along with a sidewall custom enclosure that I'm planning on buying from another forum member. If you don't like this combo or think there is something out there that is better, by all means let me know. Nothing is off the table. I am also considering some JL audio subs but seeing as this alpine package is a combo I would think that these two would work well together. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/alpine-5...0930&lp=5&cp=1 I am torn in what sounds better in terms of best bass quality while still retaining total sound quality. Keep in mind that I don't want to have to deal with bass that will rattle my trunk. Should I also consider adding dynamat to the trunk. Thanks in advance for everyone's input. |

You have logic 7. You should install it yourself it's not difficult with technics harness and you'll know it's done right.

Go with a 4 channel amp like the Kenwood XR-4S which you can buy for under $200 refurbished. 2 channels for the stock underseats and the other 2 bridged to the sub. Go with the corner enclosure and put in the best sub you can afford. Alpine Type R would be a very good choice if the enclosure is at least 0.75 ft2. Type S may also work, but the Type R has a much better reputation for SQ. If later on you feel you need more power, the 4-channel amp can be used to drive the front speakers, and you can get a mono amp. You're definitely not going to upgrade yourself into a corner this way!
Read up on the MS-8, it works wonders with the L7 speaker setup!

1. Unless you are OK with cutting/slicing the OEM wiring, you will need the Technic harness, which also includes the required line output adapter 2. $150 on an amp install kit is a rip-off. You can get the needed parts for much less than $50. 3. Do NOT let BB touch your car. Just don't do it! Install yourself, it is easy. Just do a bit more reading, and hold back that trigger finger before it does any more damage.

Ok I think Ill be cancelling the install package, but where do I get the technic harness. I contacted technic through this forum and didnt get a response.
I got the bestbuy kit for $50 off amazon, so i didnt get that ripped off. I got them to price match. BTW, where would I go to have this package installed?? who would you guys recommend in the Vancouver area for this type of setup. and also would I need the SUB control to be installed in the same package or would the stock head unit suit me fine. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=A5ZRC4DPYV13E |

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=910091 or you can send a PM to forum member Technic. They are not always in stock with him.

I was also wondering whether its true about if you install the trunk subwoofer using the best buy package I mentioned earlier, that it would cause the underseat subwoofers to stop working? |

That's why you don't go to BB and do it yourself using the Technic "subwoofer add-on" harness.
