E90 Auto Tecknic CF M3 Trunk Lip Spoiler Review
Hello All,
Purchased an E90 Auto Tecknic CF Trunk M3 Lip Spoiler (http://www.autotecknic.com/product_p/bm-0190-s.htm) from Trinity Autosports on Monday ($120 including shipping to Texas), received it Wednesday and wanted to post a review. Fitment is terrible. The Spoiler is quite "bowed" on the edges when placing it on the trunk without any tape. I was really concerned about it even working at all even with tape. Looks great! No complaints about the CF weave, looks OEM to me. Price and shipping were exceptional. I used some 1/8" thick double sided tape to mount the spoiler. The thickness helped to mitigate the bowing of the spoiler and all in all after it was installed it looked OK for a DIY $120 CF spoiler. Unfortunately I wasn't gentle enough when I clamped down the edges to get a good adhesion on the double sided tape and it made some blemishes on the carbon fiber. I wouldn't of had to clamp it down if the fitment was better. After installation there was some tape visible in the poor fitment gaps if you knew where to look so I touched the white tape edges up with some black paint (FIRST PIC SHOWS THE WHITE TAPE BEFORE PAINTING). I kinda hope the thing will fly off at 130mph (with no one behind me!) so I can get a new one with better fitment but this will do for now. Anyone else have fitment issues with this spoiler lip or is this a normal "gap"? |

I'd be concerned about the gap under the ends of the spoiler - real easy to "hook" a towel under it when you're drying the car or wiping off wax. It's a pain, but you may want to re-do the 3M double sided tape under it so something doesn't get caught and rip if off. Sucks I know.

It looks too small for an e90. It doesn't even make it to the panel gap.

That is not a normal gap. Get your money back.
